The story of Eponi

After months spent interviewing parents and childcare professionals, personalising the first stories, designing the computer system capable of generating all this and carrying out numerous tests, Eponi saw the light of day in the autumn of 2023. Well, that’s the romantic version of things. There was also a lot of paperwork of all kinds 😉

Eponi’s objective is to make personalised children’s books accessible to as many children as possible. After realising the value of personalised books for children, but also realising that the range available was limited and that prices were high, we decided to launch a collection of children’s books in which every child can become the hero, at the lowest prices on the market. To make this possible, we optimised our processes and opted for a single-book format. Simple and easy to produce. All this, of course, without compromising the quality of the stories and illustrations offered at a single price, with no options to add to the basket.

Some of the books proposed by Eponi have already had great success in non-personalised versions and others have been created specifically by our authors and illustrators.

The story behind Eponi’s personalised books

Once upon a time, a father wrote a story for his four-year-old daughter, who came home from school very intrigued by children who lose their teeth.

Following the success of his first book, in which his daughter was the heroine, he went on to write other children’s books and novels for older children. All this took him on the road to literary events across France to meet his young readers. These exchanges only confirmed his intuition that children are even more attracted to a book in which they are the hero. His experience as a computer scientist told him that it was technically possible. So, more than a decade after the publication of his first children’s book, he launched Eponi with the help of his eldest daughter.

The many people who form Eponi come from a wide range of backgrounds. You’ll find :

• Printers who produce and ship children’s books with the greatest care. They use only vegetable-based inks and paper from sustainably managed forests.
• Computer scientists who have developed and are continuing to develop a superb server capable of converting customer orders into pretty personalised books for children.
• Artists from a variety of backgrounds creating the beautiful stories offered by Eponi. Here are portraits of our authors and illustrators. 
• A cheerful team that works hard every day to coordinate all of this and to spread the word about Eponi so that every child can have access to a personalised book.
